| Published by Today's News Herald on Mar. 27, 2024 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Gerald "Jerry" Lee Niederhaus, 86, passed away in Hastings, Nebraska on March 23, 2024. Gerald was born on April 30, 1937 to Edward and Esther Niederhaus in Hastings, Nebraska. He spent part of his childhood in San Pedro, California during World War II as his dad worked in the shipyards before they returned to Hastings. He had two younger sisters Cheri Delay and Pam Augustin. He started his career as a bricklayer in Nebraska, following the family tradition. He married his wife Anita Morrison on Feb. 18, 1967, and they had sons Charles and Scott. Midway through life, the family moved to Lake Havasu City, where he eventually became a US Post Office employee along with his wife Anita. He was always a car enthusiast, having many hot rods and Corvettes over the years. Later in life, he enjoyed camping and ATV riding in the desert with family and friends. Gerald returned to Hastings in 2023. Gerald is survived by his sister Cheri Delay and sister and brother-in law Pam & Ron Augustin, son Charles, daughter-in-law Amy Niederhaus, and grandchildren Nicholas, Alexander, Madison, and Grayson. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Esther, wife Anita, and son Scott. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Chaplain Lisa Ewald officiating. |
