Richard Clarence Conway, "Dick", was born to Eliza and Clarence Conway
on Jan. 17, 1934 in Clearfield, PA. He passed away peacefully at home on
Aug. 30, 2024 in Lake Havasu City at 90 years old.
Dick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1955. His military
career included approximately 8400 hours of flight time while piloting
18 different models of aircraft during his 22 years of active duty. He
received many awards throughout service, including two Distinguished
Flying Crosses (DFC) and 10 Air Medals for combat air strike flights.
Dick retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1975.
He relocated to Lake Havasu in 1976 while working for the Arizona State
Compensation Fund. He met the love of his life, Janice, in 1984, married
shortly after, and welcomed their son, Ricky, in 1985.
He belonged to many organizations, including the Arizona Elks Lodge,
Lions Club, VFW, Moose, Eagles, Shriners, Marine Corps League, American
Legion, and Masonic Lodge.
Richard is survived by his loving family, wife, Janice; children,
Patrick, Shawn, Michael, Colleen, Kevin, Leslie, and Ricky; step-
children, Lydia, Karen, Nick, and Kristina; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-
grandchildren; sister, Sheila Laughlin; sister-in-law, Patti Martin; and
many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Rose
LaVia and daughter, Kathleen Picciano.
A Lodge of Sorrow/Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday,
November 23, at the Lake Havasu Elks Lodge. Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and
Crematory made arrangements.
