Joanne Mallicoat
May 6, 1938 — April 9, 2025

Joanne (Jodie) Henson-Mallicoat was born May 6, 1938, to Alvis and Faith Buechel in Jenning, La. The family moved to Iowa soon after and Faith passed away about three years later. Alvis (Al) then met and married Juanita Arnold in 1942 where they had nine children together.

Joanne graduated from West Point High School and then moved to Burlington, Iowa, for beauty school. There, she met Joe Henson and the two were married on Oct. 18, 1948. They had five children. In 1973, they all moved to Wickenburg. Joe worked construction and Jodie worked in various restaurants around Wickenburg. At one time, she and her sister-in-law purchased and operated the Horseshoe Café, located on Tegner St. from 1975-1982 when she sold the restaurant and retired.

Two years later, she came out of retirement and agreed to manage the Lota Burger. She worked there until 1989. Joe passed in 1992. In 1994, she married Ron Mallicoat, who also had five children. Their families doubled in numbers and delights of many grandchildren. They spent 22 retirement years traveling and spending time at their homes in Cholla Bay, Mexico; Mormon Lake, Ariz.; and Wickenburg.

She was involved with many organizations in Wickenburg such as the Saddle Club, Wickenburg Fire Auxiliary and St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was a member of the Community Alliance Church and a member of the Elks Club.

After Ronnie's passing in 2016, Jodie devoted herself to her beliefs, her church, her children and grandchildren. Her kindness, work ethic, faith and common sense touched all who knew her.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Faith Buechel; stepmother, Juanita; sister, Theresa Smith; Joe Henson; Ronnie Mallicoat; and stepdaughter, Kelly Mallicoat.
