Seattle Man Died In Local Hospital From Crash Injuries
Gale Van Court, 38-year-old resident of Seattle, Wash., died at 3:38
a.m. Wednesday in Community Hospital here from injuries received in a
one-car accident at the foot of Yarnell Hill around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.
William E. Craig of Phoenix, driver of the car in which Van Court was
one of four passengers, was also brought to the hospital in the
Coffinger ambulance and is suffering from injuries, abrasions, a cracked
rib and bad back.
Other passengers in the Craig car, Mr. & Mrs. Robert L. Watson and 15-
month-old daughter, Carol, were brought in by Highway Patrolman Bill
Hangar but left after receiving treatment at the hospital.
Over Four Times
Hangar said that the 1950 Plymouth which Craig was driving went out of
control on the long S curve at the foot of the hill and turned over four
times. The patrolman also said that he had learned there were four girl
hitchhikers in the car at the time of the accident but, apparently
unhurt, they left the scene before his arrival.
