John Battle Funeral services were held Monday morning in Webber’s Eastlake Chapel for John Battle Sr., 80, who passed Wednesday a week ago at his home, 126 South 10th Place. The Rev. L. J. Harper officiated. Burial followed in Glendale Memorial Park. The octogenarian bbm in Center, Texas, lived in Phoenix 12 years. He is survived by eight children —six sons, John Jr., Tell, Texas, Robert, San Francisco, California, Roy, serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, Marcellus, George and William of Phoenix; two daughters, Sally Mae Bean and Annie Belle Battle, both of Dallas; and 11 grandchildren.
