Flagstaff, Arizona -
Daniel William Chisholm, III was born January 15, 1952 in Chicago, IL to
Hubert Chisholm and Harriet Knudsen. He passed peacefully at home on May
28, 2025 after a long struggle with declining health. He spent his
earliest years in Aspen, CO and then later growing up in Wheaton, IL. He
attended the College of DuPage, studying horticulture, and retired from
the University of California after 15 years as a master gardener. He
moved to Ecuador for a time, returning to the US to be closer to family
in 2005, where he made Flagstaff his home.
Dan lived a life of adventure, filled with a love of travel and animals,
a passion for skiing, fishing and gardening. He was cheerful in spite of
chronic pain and loss of mobility. He was curious about the world, and a
wicked Scrabble opponent. He had joy and pride in managing the Juniper
St. Community Garden. He was ever loyal and cared deeply about his
family. He will be missed.
He is survived by his brother, Stuart (Andrea Raincrow); sister,
Christine (Robert Tures); nieces and nephew, Caitlin Anderson, Aubrey
Chisholm, Samantha Chisholm and Hugh Tures. He also leaves behind great
nephews and niece, Noah, Rory, Hansl and Elise.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on September 6, 2025, at
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Flagstaff. In lieu of flowers,
