He was born September 13, 1939 in Croswell, Michigan. Mr. Coats was employed for 35 years at the Port Huron Paper Company in Michigan. He moved to Arizona six years ago. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. He leaves his wife, Lois Coats; daughters, Lisa, husband, Joseph Bourassa, Lainie Slaght; a son, Scott, wife, Sheila Coats; his mother Iva Martin; a sister, Ella Curtis; two brothers, Richar, wife, Karen Coats and Timothy and Carol Coats; grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Dylan Coats and Brooke and Dominic Bourassa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Thomas Coats, his father, Timothy Coats and his step-father, Elwyn Martin. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marlette, Michigan. Westcott Funeral Home assisted the family with these arrangements.
