SMITH,
Mildred
Funeral Today For Automobile Victim
Funeral services will be held at the Carroon Mortuary at 10 o’clock this morning for Mildred
Smith, 11, who was killed Sunday afternoon when a coupe driven by her mother, Mrs. Harry
Smith, turned over near the Leatherman bridge on the Tucson road. The four persons—Mrs.
Smith, Edward Lafferty, 45, Eugenia Wilson, 10, and Harry Smith, Jr., 9, who were injured in the
accident are getting along nicely, it was stated yesterday at St, Josephs Hospital. All have left
the hospital except Mr. Lafferty and he will be able to leave soon, it was said. The accident
occurred when a tire blew out causing the car to leave the road, strike a stump and turn over.
Mrs. Smith and husband conduct a highway construction camp halfway between Nogales and
Tucson. Lafferty is a road employee. Mr. Smith, father of the dead child, was in a car just back
of the one that turned over. They were enroute to Nogales.
