Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Wednesday, December 6, 1995, p. A-2 William J. Backs, of Wickenburg, died Dec. 4 in Wickenburg. He was 70. Mr. Backs was born Jan. 5, 1925 in Knox County, Ind. He was an eight- year winter resident from Pinedale, Wyo. He was a manufacturer's representative from Chicago for over 20 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Backs was also a member of the Presbyterian Church in Indiana and Illinois. Mr. Backs is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet P.; daughters Cathlyn S. Backs of Wickenburg and Rebecca A. Backs-Eckert of Wickenburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, Viora and Ernest. Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Backs' name to the Museum of the Mountain Man, 700 E. Hennick, Fremont Lake Road, Pinedale, Wyo. 82941. Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service handled all the arrangements.
