| Published by Yuma Sun on Jan. 6, 2026 - Yuma, Arizona - Melva Higuera Evaro, aged 94, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, in Palm Desert, California. Born on August 5, 1931, in Winterhaven, California, Melva attended the local Mission school. Her career included managerial roles at the Gold Bond Center and ownerships of Golda's Fashion at Yuma Mall, Melva's Mexican Restaurant, and the Burrito Stop in Palm Springs. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great- great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Evaro Lara of Palm Springs and Debra Evaro Blair (Tommy) of Palm Desert; her son, Gene Evaro, also of Palm Desert; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 8 great- great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Melva was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Beatrice Higuera; her beloved husband, Alfonso Evaro; her son, Randy Evaro; her granddaughter, Natalie Evaro; 3 brothers, and 3 sisters. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, crocheting, and gardening, above all she loved her role as a homemaker. Melva was also the lead singer with the Eddie Al Ray Trio. A private service will be held at Lady of Solitude in Palm Springs, California, on January 24, 2026, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and celebrate her remarkable life.
