MRS. J. W. WINDERS DIES FROM INJURIES
As a result of injuries received October 11, at their ranch home in the Mule Creek section Grant
county, Mrs. Jennie Winders, wife of Jesse Winders, well known cattleman, died Wednesday,
Nov. 2 at midnight. Mrs. Winders was fatally injured by a heavy barn door falling on her. She was
assisting her husband in hanging the door when the support gave away and it fell, crushing her
beneath it. Although the best surgical aid was given her, she passed away three weeks
afterward. The deceased was born July 9, 1881 in New York state. She was married 15 years
ago and with Mr. Winders came to Grant county from Texas in 1907. She was a woman beloved
by her neighbors and her death is sincerely mourned throughout the community in which she
lived. The body was shipped to Leavenworth, Kans. for burial accompanied by the bereaved
husband.
