ALBERT E. SMITH DIES SUDDENLY AT ROAD CAMP
Albert E. Smith, gravel inspector on the road just this side of Springerville, died very suddenly
early Wednesday morning of hemorrhage of the lungs at the W. E. Wiltbank ranch near the 24
ranch. He seemed to be in his usual health Tuesday evening, but on Wednesday morning was
very ill and went outside of the house, soon after calling for help. Roy Tanner went to his
assistance, but he died within a few minutes after Mr. Tanner reached him. As near as we can
learn Mr. Smith first came to St. Johns about seven years ago, and has been an employe on the
highway in Apache county on and off for about five years. At this writing we have not been able
to learn where his home was before coming to Apache county.
