Mrs. Donna Freeman (nee Francis), 91, passed away peacefully on Dec. 13
in Surprise, Ariz., with her sons by her side. Born March 4, 1934, in
Crawford County, Ill., she lived a long and fulfilling life marked by
love for her family, a sharp sense of humor, and a successful career in
computer programming at a time when few women entered the field.
Donna was the daughter of Parley Francis and Leona Blake. She married
Norman Freeman on June 2, 1951, in Robinson, Ill. Mrs. Freeman was
preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeffrey; and her husband,
Norman Freeman.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Jay Freeman and Todd Freeman;
her daughter-in-law, Brenda Henderson; her grandchildren, Harrison
Freeman and Eleanor Freeman; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins,
extended family members and friends.
After retiring and relocating to Wickenburg, Donna discovered a passion
for painting, inspired by beautiful Arizona landscapes and foliage,
allowing her creativity to flourish. She also enjoyed reading, music,
playing cards, cooking and baking--simple pleasures she generously
shared with others.
Known for her intelligent wit and vibrant sense of humor; Donna made
friends easily wherever she went. Her warmth and welcoming spirit filled
rooms with laughter and comfort, and she will be deeply missed by all
who knew her.
