ROACH, Joseph

SUDDEN DEATH OF WELL-KNOWN PIONEER Joseph Roach, an old timer in this section died Sunday evening at the Fashion lodging house. Roach, who had been working on the railroad near Bellemont for some time past, came to town about two weeks ago. Last Saturday he complained of not feeling well and went to his room to lie down but nothing was thought of the matter, as he had been imbibing somewhat freely since he came to town. Sunday evening he came down stairs for a few minutes, and just as he started to ascend the stairs he dropped over dead. A coroner's jury was empaneled by Judge Rounseville, and after hearing the testimony of several persons, the jury returned a verdict that death was caused from heart failure. Roach was a Canadian and came to northern Arizona about twenty years ago and has made his home in Williams most of the time since. He was about fifty-five years of age and had no relatives in this country so far as known. Undertaker Button interred the remains in the local cemetery Tuesday afternoon.
