| DIED IN PHOENIX Mrs. Kate Laugh died in Phoenix. Arizona August 27. Appendicitis was the cause of her death. She had suffered poor health for a number of years, going to Phoenix about a year ago in the hope that the change of climate would help her. The funeral was held in the A. H. McLellan chapel in Phoenix and was conducted by Rev. C. M. Aker, pastor of the Central Methodist Church of Phoenix. Interment was made in the Phoenix Cemetery. Mrs. Laugh was born, in Goodrich, Canada, 45 years ago. Her husband was killed in an explosion of dynamite at Sednooley, Washington in 1912. From there Mrs. Laugh came to Williams to make her home with her brother, Mr. James McKay. She later took up a homestead near Jacob Buss'es ranch. She later sold her farm to Tom Bowden and went to Phoenix, where death overtook her. Mrs. Laugh is survived by three brothers and three sisters James McKay, Sr. of Williams, Arizona, Dunk McKay and Elic McKay of Big Lake, Wash. Mrs. Nelson Franklin of Alpenia, Michigan Mrs. James Laugh and Mrs. Belle Vayson, of Big Lake, Washington. Mrs. Laugh made many friends in Williams during her stay here, who are saddened to learn of her death. One of these friends offers the following consoling lines to ease the sorrow of the parting for her relatives. "You have not lost your sister, in death. She has only crossed the border and there awaits you." The Williams News September 9, 1921 |
