James Paul Barder, 78, of Phoenix, a retired company superintendent, died Jan. 12, 1999. He was born in Chicago and was a World War II Army veteran. 

Survivors include his wife, Ann; daughter, Kathy B. Lewis; sister, Margaret; brothers, David and Emmet and three grandchildren.
