It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the
passing of our beloved Smitty, who departed this world peacefully on
March 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his devoted daughters in his
cherished home. Born on December 16, 1946, in Richmond, California,
Smitty was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose life was a testament
to love, service, and joy.

Smitty was the treasured son of Conway and Lovie Smith, who predeceased
him along with his dear brother Corkie Smith, his loving wife Juliette
Smith, and his precious son Douglas Crossley. His legacy continues
through his devoted daughters, April Moore and Patrisha Smith, his
beloved sons, James Smith and Thomas Smith, as well as his Cuz Bobby,
who shared in his life’s journey. Smitty’s family tree flourished with
15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, each of whom were the light
of his life.

A proud graduate of Richmond High School, Smitty pursued a career as a
certified Heavy Equipment Mechanic, a testament to his love for
tinkering and working with his hands. His dedication and expertise were
admired by many, and he shared his skills generously, touching countless
lives with his kindness and generosity. An avid tinkerer, Smitty found
joy in numerous projects, from genealogy to cars and woodworking. His
admiration for Native American heritage reflected his profound respect
for history and culture.

Smitty’s life was marked by service, both as a member of the United
States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was honorably discharged in
1968, and through his active involvement in the VFW, Elks, Eagles, and
the Hot Rod Association of Lake Havasu City. His afternoons at Niko's
were filled with laughter and camaraderie, as he shared stories and a
cold beer with friends.

A true believer in God, Smitty's faith was a guiding light in his life.
The Lake Havasu Center for Spiritual Living, is where his memorial
service will be held. His warmth and friendliness were felt by all who
knew him, and he particularly adored by babies, whom he showered with
love and affection. His life was a celebration of family and friendship,
and his legacy of kindness will endure in the hearts of all who had the
privilege of knowing him.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at
Family Care Hospice and Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home for their unwavering
support during this difficult time.

A service to honor and celebrate Smitty's remarkable life will be held
at the Lake Havasu Center for Spiritual Living, located at 2041 Swanson
Ave #1, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. Family and friends are invited to
join in remembering a truly remarkable man whose presence filled the
world with light and love.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St.
Judes Childrens Hospital in Smitty’s memory, as a tribute to his
lifelong spirit of generosity and compassion.
