Liselotte (Lisa) Kraus passed away in her home on March 4, 2026 at the
age of 98.

Liselotte Katharina (Marquart) Kraus was born on August 13, 1927 in the
small village of Steinenbach, Germany. Her parents were AnnaMaria and
Alois Marquart. Her faith and her family were always most important in
her life. One memory that she has shared is that when she was about four
years old her mother would always take her with her when she would go to
a bigger town. Liselotte would ride in the seat on the front of her
mother's bicycle. When they stopped along the way by a way cross, they
would sit there on the bench, say a prayer, and have a sweet snack. She
just loved that!

Liselotte wanted to become a schoolteacher, so she attended school in
Germany during the Second World War. She taught first through fourth
grades (about 35 children altogether) as a student teacher. After three
years, she was transferred to another school and taught first grade. At
this school, all eight grades were in separate rooms. She loved teaching
first grade there.

Liselotte's mother's cousin sponsored her to come to America. She
traveled on the Queen Mary to New York. Her cousin was a Franciscan
brother and the architect for the Franciscan Order. First, Liselotte
worked in his office and then later worked for an advertising agency
called McCann-Erickson. She worked in the accounting department in the
payroll division.

Liselotte met Joseph Kraus and they became good friends. After three
years, Liselotte went back to Germany. However, she loved New York and
she was happy there. She asked her parents if they would object to her
going back to the USA. They said that if she really wanted to live
there, they would not object and they gave her their blessing. Liselotte
and Joe were engaged a few weeks after she returned to New York and they
married on July 3, 1954 at St. James ProCathedral in Brooklyn. They
later moved to a house on Long Island. Liselotte and Joe were blessed
with a daughter, Anna Maria and a son, Richard. A few years later, they
had another house built and lived there until 1976 when they moved to
Lake Havasu City.

Liselotte (Lisa to most people here in the United States) and Joe
enjoyed a wonderful and happy life together. They were married for 63
years. Their family grew over the years and both family and friends have
so many wonderful memories.

Lisa was a faith-filled person. She was thankful to God each and every
day for His blessings in her life. It has been said that Lisa's smile
lit up a room. She also loved the outdoors. She enjoyed working in her
yard and going for walks.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband.

Lisa is survived by her daughter, Anna Maria (Michael) Grahn, her son,
Richard Kraus, five grandsons (Andrew, Matthew, Nicholas, Ryan, and
Max), and eleven great-grandchildren.
