David John Schmidt, age 70, passed away on March 31st, at his home in Flagstaff, AZ.
He was born on April 15, 1955, in Missouri. David grew up with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and the natural world.
David shared fifty years of marriage with his beloved wife, and together they raised six children, and David took immense pride in being a steady, loving presence in their lives. His joy only grew with the arrival of his fourteen grandchildren, each of whom he cherished deeply.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, David served for four years as a helicopter mechanic and was part of the water rescue program.
For more than 20 years, David dedicated himself to teaching. He was the kind of educator who saw potential in every student and worked tirelessly to help them grow.
David was also a "project man" at heart-always fixing, building, repairing, or lending a hand. If someone needed help, he was there, no questions asked.
He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his deep faith, his generosity, and his adventurous spirit.
A funeral mass was held on April 15th at San Francisco de Asis and following, a Celebration of Life at: The Sycamore, 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the ALS Foundation or Grand Canyon Youth, honoring David's lifelong commitment to helping others.
