Sandra Kay Lyons, born Aug. 15, 1946, in Freeport, Illinois, passed away on May 6, 2026, in Fountain Hills, Arizona, from complications of dementia.
“Sandy” lived a life defined by devotion to her family and friends, her faith, and her community.
Following high school, Sandy attended Capri College in Dubuque, Iowa, where she pursued one of her many talents and became a beautician. Sandy began working in Davenport, Iowa, where she met the love of her life, Raymond Lyons. They shared a beautiful 59-year marriage and raised three children together.
Sandy and Ray called Kingman, Arizona home, where they lived for 45 years. They enjoyed living in the desert and achieving their goal of traveling to all 50 states and several countries.
Sandy was multi-faceted beyond being a dedicated mom to her children and many others. Her most beloved role was “Grandma”. Notably she worked at Hallmark where she took great pride in assisting customers. She volunteered at the hospital as a “Pink Lady” for over 32 years, worked at election sites, made gifts for soldiers, donated her paintings for auctions, and helped wherever else she was needed.
Sandy had many talents, interests, and hobbies. She was a gifted painter, highly skilled in cake decorating, ceramics, sewing, and making photo albums and Kachina dolls. She belonged to the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She enjoyed her collections of: Beanie babies, trinket boxes, teacups, angels, ornaments, and Santas. She loved sending cards and giving gifts.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Lyons; son Jeff (Maggie) Lyons with grandchildren Abigail (Josh), Bernadette, Maille, Brendan, Jane, and Nola; daughter Stacy (Todd) Weatherly with grandchildren Jordan (Megan) and Alex (Joe); daughter Ashli Lyons; Spanish daughter Coro (Joaquin); and four great-grandchildren. Brother Erland (Mary) Heinrich; in-laws Helen, Kathy, Dave, Joe, Barb, Linda, Mike, and many nieces and nephews.
Sandy will be remembered for her creativity, generosity, unwavering support, and the warmth and love she brought into the lives of so many.
