Joy Lee Jensen (Chavez), 65, passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2026, in Kingman, Arizona, following a courageous year-long battle with cervical cancer. She was born on Oct. 4, 1960, in Barstow, California. Joy was raised in the Pentecostal church and moved to Kingman in 1989.
Joy lived life in the fast lane. She was always ready to jump on a motorcycle and ride full throttle through life. Whether she was hitting the trails with her weekly horseback riding group, skydiving with her son, or heading to “the river” with friends, she was always up for an adventure. She cherished the friends in her riding group and took great pride in recently earning first place in a North American Trail Riding Conference (NATRC) competition.
Joy embraced life on her own terms, rarely passing up an opportunity for excitement, fun, and making memories with the people she loved. She will be remembered for her resilient strength, as well as her passion for reading, roses, and animals, especially horses.
Joy is survived by the light of her life, her chosen child and beloved grandson, Jack Bruno-Stanford; her children, Jason Stanford, Jennifer Chavez, and Michael Cain; her mother, Patricia Moore; her brother, Joseph Enos; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Theodore Rohm Jr.; her husband, Michael Scott Jensen; and her father, Henry Joseph Chavez.
Joy will be laid to rest in Chloride, Arizona, alongside her grandfather, Vernon Moore. Services will be announced by the family at a later date.
