WOOTAN, Gene Lawrence


Published by Today's News-Herald on June 13, 2026 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - We are sad to announce the passing of Gene Lawrence Wootan on May 9, 2026. Gene was born in Tucson, Arizona on November 4, 1932 to Robert William and Stella Lottie Wootan (Rice). Gene was the youngest of 3 brothers, Howard Robert Wootan & Marvin Wayne Wootan. Gene married Claudia Ann Peery in November 19,1955 and survived by his 2 sons, Robert Lee (Red) Wootan (Shawna) and Kim Leroy Wootan (Cheryl). Gene was a wonderful person, father and husband who was very patient and willing to help anyone in need. He graduated high school in Glenns Ferry, ID and joined the Navy in 1950 and served through1954. Gene & Claudia lived in several cities around California and worked at McCulloch Corp. in El Segundo, CA. Gene took opportunity to be a pioneer and move to Lake Havasu City, AZ in 1966 to help set up the plating dept. Gene worked for McCulloch for 38 years before retiring. He decided to work for Walmart where he met a wonderful group of people and thoroughly enjoyed working with the public. After Claudia passed in 2005, Gene started riding motorcycles with his closest friends, Judy, Charles. Gene loved his trike and going on "Wild Hog" rides year after year. Gene was always involved with crafting, making paper weights with scorpions and, tarantulas, knitting and quilting. Gene will be greatly missed by his sons, grandchildren, Kalyn, Mackenzie, Ashley, Kory, Brittany, Dustin, Megan and his 5 Great Grandchildren.
