Hayes, 65, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2026, with his beloved wife by his side after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Throughout his illness, Steve fought with remarkable strength, determination, and grace—a true warrior until the very end. Steve was born on May 26, 1960, in Vermilion, Ohio, to Howard and Lorraine Hayes. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Tina Hayes; his daughter, Ivy Dewett (Wade) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; his son, Stone Hayes of Reno, Nevada; and his cherished granddaughters, Meadow and Birdie Dewett, who brought him immense joy and pride. Steve dedicated his professional life to the heating and air conditioning industry, serving as General Foreman of Operations for Mercury Heating and Air. He worked faithfully for the same father-and-son ownership team for 43 years, earning the respect and admiration of coworkers, customers, and friends alike. His loyalty, work ethic, and commitment to excellence were hallmarks of both his career and his character. He lived by his principles and was known for his dependability, honesty, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Many people knew Steve for his mechanical talents and ability to build or repair nearly anything, but there were also sides of him. He was an avid reader, a model train enthusiast, and possessed an extraordinary green thumb. He was a gifted musician who played bass guitar, sang in a band, and wrote original music. Creative and resourceful, Steve enjoyed woodworking and could craft almost anything from wood. Above all else, Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. His strength, wisdom, humor, and steadfast presence enriched the lives of all who knew him. Steve’s legacy lives on through his family, his work, his music, and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. Forever loved, forever remembered.
