Berni Harrison, Sr., Victim Of Heat Stroke Victim of a heat stroke, Berni D. Harrison, 51, an Arizonan for 40 years, and former resident of Nogales and Elgin, died Friday at Memorial Hospital in Phoenix, where he had lived for some time. Mr. Harrison, a carpenter, was admitted to the hospital a week ago yesterday after suffering the heat stroke while working for a construction company. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Morterson Kinsley Mortuary in Phoenix, followed by burial in that city. Born in Kentucky, he was reared at Elgin and served with the U. S. Marines in China in the 20s. Survivors are his wife, Mary, and four daughters, Mrs. Lorna Berry, Mrs. Meredith Coble and Ruth and Barbara Harrison, all of Phoenix; and two sons, Berni, Jr., stationed with an army engineering unit in Alaska, and Pvt. Lawrence Harrison, with the armed forces at Fort Lewis, Wash. Also two sisters, Mrs. William H. Anderson, Sr., of Nogales, Mrs. Paul Price, Hotchkiss, Colo., and a brother, Chandler S. Harrison of Grass Valley, California. Berni Harrison, Jr., arrived in Phoenix Monday night to attend the funeral, having flown from Alaska. Mr. Harrison was a son of the late Mrs. Al Hilton of Elgin, who died last November, and Perry Harrison, who passed away about eight years ago. Nogales International July 31, 1953 AZ death certificate lists his father as Steven Terry Harrison from Kentucky, his mother as Hattie Cora Collie from Kentucky. Full name on certificate was Berni Dorn Harrison.
