A-3 Fatality Claims 18-year-old on Yarnell Hill An 18-year-old Camp Verde woman was killed late last month when the car she was riding in ran off U.S. Highway 89 just south of the top of Yarnell Hill. DPS investigating officers said Yvonne Johnson was killed after the car she was a passenger in ran off the roadway of Highway 89 on Thursday, July 30, dropping onto some boulders below the highway after traveling about 50 feet on the dirt shoulder. The accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m., according to reports. The name of the driver of the car, a late model Ford Escort, was not released pending an investigation of the circumstances surrounding the accident. Authorities said she was a 17-year-old female who suffered minor injuries in the accident.
