Harriet D. (Hood) Mendez Born in Clarkdale, Arizona on Jan. 11, 1937. Departed on Sept. 3, 2003 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Harriet Mendez, 66, of Camp Verde died September 3rd. She was born January 11, 1937 in Clarkdale. Mrs. Mendez served two years on the Council of the Yavapai-Apache Nation. She served four years as Vice-Chairperson of the Yavapai-Apache Nation. She leaves her husband, Juan O. Mendez; daughters, Diana, husband David DeLa Torre, Phoenix; Kathleen Mendez, Albuquerque, N.M. and Annette Mendez, Clarkdale; son Kevin, wife Rachel Mendez, Camp Verde; sister Katherine Marquez, Clarkdale; sister-in-law Joan Hood, Chandler; brothers, Willie Hood, wife Julia, Clarkdale and Harry Hood, Jr., wife Janet, all of Clarkdale; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, September 8th in the Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave., Cottonwod at 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass wil be held on Tuesday, September 9 in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Camp Verde at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery.
