THE WICKENBURG SUN THE WEEK OF JANUARY 15, 2003 Mary Elinore Stewart Champie Mary Elinore Stewart Champie was born Oct. 10, 1916 in Prescott, Ariz. to Clarence and Lola Stewart. Elinore was raised on a family cattle ranch, the Cross Triangle, in Williamson Valley, Ariz. She attended Sacred Heart and Prescott High School. Elinore and Lawton married at a rodeo in Globe, Ariz. Aug. 24, 1937. They were owners of the LC Ranch in Castle Hot Springs until 1975. Left to carry on the tradition are brother, Bill Stewart; daughter, Ibbie Champie; grandson Lawton Cavalliere; granddaughters Connie Jensen, Codee Blunk and eight great-grandchildren. Elinore was a member of the Arizona Cattle Growers, Yavapai County Cattle Growers, Yavapai Cow Bells, and a charter member of the Lady Elks in Wickenburg. Jan. 11, 2003, Elinore moved up to a higher pasture to ride with Lawton, family and friends. A service will be held Jan. 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Menke Funeral Home in Sun City at 12420 N. 103 Ave.
