She was born at home, west of Mesa, Colo., on Nov. 14, 1931 when her father pulled the doctor in on a makeshift sled behind his saddle horse though the drifting snowstorm. She was the daughter of Walter R. (Dick) Lloyd and Bertha Alberta Robinson Johnson of Mesa, Colo. She was raised on the Lloyd Ranch on the Grand Mesa. She attended Grand Junction High School, Mesa State College, and Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She married Rodney William Frary, and they had one son William Richard Frary. They lived and worked in Colorado and for a time lived on the Navajo Reservation near Mexican Hat, Utah. Eastern Colorado was where Dee worked for the Record Stockman, and they both managed a country club there and also in Kansas. They moved to California, and she was active with many newspapers and became very successful with oils and watercolors, managing art galleries and showing her artwork, eventually owning a gallery in California. After they retired and moved back to the ranch in Colorado, she was active in raising and breeding Silky terriers, llamas and alpacas, and rode her Quarterhorse. They moved to Wickenburg, Ariz., in 2002 for health and a warmer climate.
