Roy Kenneth Stoddard

Roy Kenneth Stoddard, age 79, passed away Feb. 19 in Phoenix, Ariz. Roy was born in Denver, Colo., Feb. 21, 1932. He was raised there and attended schools there.

He later served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following his military service he began working for Union Carbide as a bookkeeper. Roy also played professional football with the Denver Broncos in the NFL for a time. After his football career, he began working in professional golf. He opened a golf pro shop in Broomfield, Colo., and was also involved in golf course design. In Roy’s later life he transported custom trailers to various locations throughout the country.

Roy and Doris came to Wickenburg in 2002 where they retired.

He was preceded in death by wife Doris in 2006. Roy is survived by his adopted son William Stoddard of Texas and grandsons Marshall and Kyle both of Colorado; sisters Sharon Wilson and Kathryn Hart also of Colorado; brother-in-law Harold Lloyd of Aguila, Ariz.; and nephews Erik Lloyd and Alex Lloyd as well as sister-in-law Rosie Lloyd.
