The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, October 22, 2009 Alta H. Excell was born in Panguitch, Garfield County, Utah, to Slade C. Hancock and Marie Church on Feb. 6, 1922. She passed away on Oct. 21, 2009, with family around her in Humboldt, Ariz. She was from a family of four children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don G. Excell, and her father and mother. Alta was married to Don in the St. George Temple on Oct. 5, 1939. She is survived by her four children, Terrill Don, Linda Lee, Lucielle and Alta Kathleen; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Alta graduated from Basic High School in Henderson, Nev. Her career was being a wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She served two LDS missions with her husband, Don, in the Southern States Mission. They were active members of the LDS Church and served in many callings. Alta was always available to serve anyone who had a need. Her loves were God and her family. The funeral will be Oct. 24, 2009, at the Spring Valley Chapel.
