Veolante (Veo) (Bennett) Parran

Veolante Bennett Parran of Glendale and a former longtime Wickenburg resident, died April 30 at Hospice of the Valley in Glendale. She was 72.

Mrs. Parran was born Aug. 2, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Penn.

A founder of the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum, Veo Parran was active in many Pittsburgh charities, a founding member of the Inner City Junior Tennis Program, a board member of the Visiting Nurses Foundation, and a past president of the Junior League. She also served as a literary volunteer in Wickenburg.

A member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and a strong proponent of women’s education, she served on the board of Ellis School and the Alumni Awards Committee of Wells College. A member of St. Joseph’s Church in Pittsburgh and St. Anthony of Padua in Wickenburg, Veo gave her family a legacy of faith in God, generosity, humility, love and grace.

Veo was the beloved wife of Richard B. Parran, mother of Richard B. Jr., of Minneapolis, Minn., John C. of Kennett Square, Penn., and the late David B., their wives and five grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, David P. Bennett, Jr.

A memorial mass will be held Friday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in O’Hara Township, Pittsburgh, Penn.

Friends will be received at the church an hour prior to the services. The family suggests, to honor her memory, contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
